Alleged drug group leader falls in Legazpi City

LEGAZPI CITY — Another sibling of a village chairman here yielded 50 grams of shabu (crystal meth) worth PHP300,000 during a drug raid Wednesday.

Arrested was Larry Loveriza of Purok 2 Barangay Victory Village, a suspected leader of the Loveriza drug group operating in this city, said Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional director Christian Frivaldo.

Armed with a search warrant, combined members of PDEA, local policemen, and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippine (ISAFP) swooped down the residence of the suspect 12:06 a.m. Wednesday and seized from him 50 grams of suspected shabu.

During the raid, the suspect’s wife, Nena, whose name was included in the search warrant, was able to elude arrest.

The suspect is now under the custody of the PDEA detention facility while appropriate charge against him is being prepared.

Larry is the brother of village chairman Antonio Loveriza of Victory Village, a coastal village in the city’s port area, which is considered by authorities as an illegal drug “hot spot” area.

Aside from Larry, his elder sister Salvacion was also arrested during an anti-drug operation conducted by PDEA sometime in February at the said barangay. (Mar Serrano and Jorge Hallare/PNA)
