Alvarez swears-in 4,500 new PDP members in Bataan

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on Thursday swore-in some 4,5000 new members of the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) from Bataan at the jam-packed convention hall of Vista Mall here.

Governor Albert Garcia and Representatives Jose Enrique Garcia III and Geraldine Roman of Bataan’s first and second districts, respectively, joined the oath-taking of new members who trooped to the mall as early as 6 a.m.

Sworn-in were municipal officials from 11 towns and one city, village officials from 236 barangays and provincial and congressional officials.

They first attended a seminar for membership before taking their oath.

Alvarez said that before one is admitted to the PDP-Laban, he should first take a basic membership seminar and ensure that he is not into drugs.

“As per order of President Duterte, do not accept as member those involved in drugs,” he said.

Alvarez, Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali, Davao Rep. Karlo Nograles, Negros Occidental Rep. Alfred Benitez, Makati Rep. Monsour del Rosario and Maguindanao Rep. Mangundadatu were also present in the event and all pushed for federalism.

Governor Garcia and Representatives Garcia and Roman pledged full support to the PDP Laban and thanked the Speaker for the approval of various projects in the province. (Ernie Esconde/PNA)
