By Ma. Teresa Montemayor | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers will prevail over parts of the country due to northeast monsoon or “amihan”, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday, Jan. 2.

In its 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rains due to northeast monsoon.

It warned residents in the area against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains.

It also reported that the Cagayan Valley and Bicol Regions, and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with light rains while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Moderate to strong winds moving northeast will blow over Luzon, Visayas, the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao.

Meantime, light to moderate winds with northeast direction will blow over the rest of Mindanao.

The minimum temperature is 23.0 °C and the maximum temperature is 29.4 °C. (PNA) – bny
