‘Amihan’ to bring isolated light rain showers across Luzon

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Isolated light rain showers will dampen Luzon due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” affecting the island, the weather bureau said on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Metro Manila’s temperature could reach up to 30°C, while the Kalayaan Islands and Puerto Princesa, up to 32°C.

The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, weather forecaster Grace Castañeda said.

“The public is reminded to be alert and take precautions against possible flooding and landslides, especially during severe thunderstorms,” Castañeda added.

Zamboanga’s temperature could reach up to 34°C; Davao, up to 33°C; Tacloban, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro, up to 31°C.

Castañeda said no weather disturbance may affect the country.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon.

Gale warning is in effect over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels have been alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – bny
