Amihan to bring isolated light rains across Luzon, Visayas

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Isolated light rains across the Visayas and Luzon are expected Monday, Feb. 7, due to the prevailing northeast monsoon or “amihan”, the weather bureau said.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with light rains will dampen Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced over the rest of Luzon and the Visayas.

Mindanao will have isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

“The whole Mindanao could expect warm and humid weather, with chances of isolated rains and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening,” PAGASA forecaster Grace Castañeda said.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao.

Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the seaboards of northern Luzon, eastern seaboards of central and southern Luzon, eastern seaboards of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Castañeda said no weather disturbance may affect the country. (PNA) – bny
