Amihan to bring light rains across Luzon, Visayas

By Ma. Cristina Arayata / Philippine News Agency

Most areas in Luzon and the Visayas will experience light rains due to the northeast monsoon or amihan, the weather bureau said Monday (Dec. 6).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands.

Partly to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the Visayas.

PAGASA said the shear line would cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao Region.

Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of Mndanao will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao.

Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of central Luzon, the western seaboards of northern and central Luzon and the eastern seaboard of southern Luzon.

A gale warning has also been issued over the eastern seaboards of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out to sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – jlo
