‘Amihan’ to bring rains in northern Luzon

MANILA – Cloudy skies with rains will reign while moderate to strong winds will prevail in northern Luzon on Saturday, Jan. 8, due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said it will be cloudy and rainy in the Babuyan Islands and Batanes.

The Ilocos and Cordillera regions and the rest of the Cagayan Valley will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Winds in northern Luzon will be moderate to strong and headed northeast, with moderate to rough coastal waters.

In Central Luzon and the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, winds will have similar speed and direction, with moderate to rough coastal waters.

Winds will be light to moderate and headed northeast to the north for the rest of the country, with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 21°C to 30°C; Baguio City, 13°C to 22°C; Puerto Princesa City, 25°C to 31°C; Metro Cebu, 24°C to 30°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 33°C. (PNA) – bny
