‘Amihan’ to dampen Luzon, W. Visayas

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Rain showers will continue to prevail across Luzon and Western Visayas due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the weather bureau said Thursday, Feb. 9.

Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with rains.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4:00 a.m. bulletin that these areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rains, but no significant impact is expected.

PAGASA said the rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms, it added.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the country.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
