Andanar looks forward to gov’t TV shift from analog to digital

By EJ Roque/Philippine News Agency

MANILA — Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar is looking forward to the Philippine government television station’s migration from analog to digital broadcasting.

This, as he paid a visit to the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) in Bangkok on Wednesday.

Andanar was impressed with the digital broadcasting of the NBT as he has been pushing the same for the Philippine government’s television station.

The visit is part of the implementation mechanisms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the PCOO and the Public Relations Department (PRD) of Thailand signed last January 17.

Both camps renewed their mutual commitment to advance the fight against the proliferation of fake news in the ASEAN region.

PRD Deputy Director-General Tassanee Pholchaniko welcomed the PCOO chief during the visit.

This trip marks Andanar’s second visit to Thailand in 2019.

In January, Andanar attended the launch of the Press Freedom caravan in Bangkok where he highlighted the government’s response to the call for transparency through the Freedom of Information (Executive Order No. 2, signed in 2016), a major program of the Duterte administration.
