Año hopes Bayanihan 2 passage to be discussed in Congress

National Task Force against COVID-19 Vice Chairperson and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año hopes that the passing of Bayanihan to Recover as One Bill will be discussed again in Congress’ session on Monday.

According to DILG Sec. Año, the Bayanihan 2 will focus more on restarting the economy of the Philippines including the opening of businesses, creating more jobs for Filipinos and responding to the needs of the health sector.

“Kailangan pa rin natin ‘yung Bayanihan 2. As you see, our budget for 2020 kasi ginawa na ‘yan pero walang nakalaan for COVID. Hindi naman natin alam na tatamaan tayo ng COVID nitong January. So hindi mo magalaw ‘yung budget kasi batas na ‘yun, GAA ‘yan. You need another law to be able to realign. (We still need the Bayanihan 2. As you see, our budget for 2020 was made without an allotment for COVID. We did not expect that COVID will hit us this January. So, the budget cannot be touched because that is the law. That’s GAA. You need another law to be able to realign.)” DILG Sec. Año explained.
