Another Filipino has been confirmed dead in the wildfire in Maui, Hawaii, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported.
The victim has been identified as Rodolfo Rocutan, according to DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega.
Rocutan, 76, brought the number of Filipinos killed in the wildfire to two.
The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu assured assistance to the families of the victims.
The Consulate will also take care of the cremation and repatriation of the remains of the two victims.
Meanwhile, DFA Assistant Secretary Paul Cortes said they are taking care of the travel documents of Filipinos in Hawaii who lost them in the blaze.
“Tinutulungan po natin silang mag-rebuild ng kanilang documentation, birth certificate, marriage contract,” Cortes said.
“And hopefully ‘yung mga kababayan natin sa Maui, Hawaii, they slowly rebuild their very important paperwork,” he added.
