SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO), this early, has begun preparing for this year’s observance of All Saints’ Day.

APPO Deputy Director for Operations, Supt. Norby Escobar, said in an interview Friday that they are coming up with a plan for “Oplan Kaluluwa”, the national police’s annual security preparation, to be implemented from Oct. 31 to November 2.

“We will be setting up police assistance desks in areas of convergence,” Escobar said.

A huge chunk of police personnel in the 18 towns of the province will be assigned to cemeteries to ensure the safety of people expected to visit the graves of their departed loved ones.

Escobar said each of the municipal police stations has 22 to 70 personnel and at least 60 percent will be tasked to man the police assistance desks in cemeteries during the duration of “Oplan Kaluluwa”.

“Even before Oct. 31, there will already be police patrolling the cemeteries because some people go to the cemeteries earlier to clean up or visit their dead loved ones,” he said.

Escobar said there are seven private and public cemeteries here, the capital town of the province of Antique. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
