SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The new president of the Liga ng Barangay,(LnB) in the province of Antique urged her colleagues at the provincial board to work together for the sake of development.

“Let us hold hands together and be inspired by the motto ‘One for All, All for One’ for no one succeeds without the help of others,” said Pamela Socorro B. Azucena who is the new president of the Liga ng Barangay, in her inaugural speech on Thursday.

Azucena said she never dreamed of being elected as LnB president. She is now on her second term as barangay captain of Idio in Sebaste town but first time to serve in the provincial board.

“Whatever we plan and implement should be focused to the needs of our fellowmen,” she added.

“I am praying for our harmonious relationship and working together for the development of our beloved Antique,” she said.

Azucena, in an interview after her inaugural speech, said that she is willing to reach out to both Rep. Paolo Everardo Javier, who had supported her, and Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao who doesn’t belong to the same political camp with the congressman for the sake of the people of the province.

“I will try my best,” Azucena said.

She said that Rep. Javier would also understand if she reaches out to Cadiao who also goes to their barangay to bring projects.

Azucena said she supported the declaration of the state of calamity in their regular session on Thursday because of the damaged seawall in Sebaste that needs to be repaired and for the barangay captains who need funds to respond to the needs of their constituents. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
