The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) is warning the public against the possible rise of dengue hemorrhagic fever with the approaching summer.

During a press conference at the IPHO building here Tuesday, Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo, Provincial Health Officer II, said they are warning residents to save water in closed containers for their household use during summer.

“We should always take preventive measures against dengue such as covering our water containers so that the mosquito dengue carrier will not breed on it,” he said.

He said the favorite breeding place of mosquito carriers are clean water such as those usually stored at home.

The IPHO official said they also advocate cleanliness of the surroundings.

In Antique, some 90 cases of dengue were recorded from January 1 to March 2, 2019.

This is higher than the 89 cases recorded during the same period in 2018.

So far, there is no reported death from dengue based on monitoring of the IPHO.

This capital town has the highest monitored dengue cases with 14 as of this month.

This is followed by the towns of Sibalom and Culasi with 12 cases each.

Barbaza town in the northern part of Antique has 11 cases while Hamtic has eight cases.

The towns Pandan and Tibiao have five cases each, Patnongon and Tobias Fornier have four cases each, and Belison has three cases.

The towns of Anini-y, Laua-an, Libertad, Sebaste and San Remigio have two cases each.

Bugasong and Caluya have one reported case each.

Only the municipality of Valderrama has no reported dengue case out of the total 18 towns of the province.
