Antique supplemental feeding program to commence

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The second tranche of the Supplemental Feeding Program (SFP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will start soon as the National Food Authority (NFA) is set to deliver the rice stock for the remaining 60 days.

Rizza Paclibar, DSWD Program Development Officer I assigned with the SFP in Antique, said that for this year they will be implementing the 120 days feeding program to 21,687 target day-care children enrolled in 675 child development centers in the province.

“The SFP is being implemented in the 18 towns of the province for those 2-4 years old children enrolled at the child development centers,” she said.

She said there were centers that initially implemented the first 60 days of the feeding program last June and July following the delivery of 3,256 bags of NFA rice for the first tranche.

“The DSWD is ordering rice from the NFA for this feeding program,” she said. However, Paclibar did not cite any definite date the second tranche of SFP will start.

She said that for this year the DSWD Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas) has allocated PHP10,409,760 for SFP.
During the feeding program, rice is cooked and served to beneficiaries.

“Per child there is a budget of PHP4.00 per day for the rice cereal while for the viand it is PHP11.00 per child per day,” she said.

The total budget for the viand for 2018 for the 21,687 beneficiaries is PHP28,626,840.

Meanwhile, NFA Antique information officer Lorlyn Bayog said that they have 3,252 bags of rice set to be delivered to child development centers for the second tranche.

The 3,252 bags of rice are part of the 22,000 bags of Thai rice that arrived in NFA Antique last September. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
