Army cycling team shares prize to disabled troops

MANILA — The Philippine Army (PA) Cycling Team donated 10 new wheelchairs to disabled soldiers undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center last April 6.

In a statement Saturday, Army spokesperson, Lt. Col. Louie Villanueva, said that Army Headquarters Support Group head Brig. Gen. Roy T. Devesa, and PA Special Service Center chief Col. Antonio John B. Divinagracia led the turnover ceremonies while members of the PA Cycling Team personally handed the brand-new wheelchairs to the designated beneficiaries.

Funds for the wheelchairs were sourced from the team’s cash prize in the recently concluded 8th LBC Ronda Pilipinas 2018, where the PA Cycling team bagged the 2nd overall award honors.

Villanueva said the 8th LBC Ronda Pilipinas 2018 was held last March 13-18.

The competition covered a distance of 1,416 kilometers, which started from Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, towards Filinvest Alabang, and Muntinlupa City. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
