Army detonates seized IEDs in Cotabato

Authorities on Tuesday detonated recovered and seized improvised explosive devices (IED) in Purok 5, Barangay Singkatulan, Makilala, North Cotabato.

More than 40 IEDs were recovered by various units of the 10th Infantry Division (10ID) of the Philippine Army from a series of operations between the last quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021.

“Pinapasabog natin ito dahil lubhang delikado ito kung hahayaan nating nakaimbak (We are detonating these because they are very dangerous when stored),” 11th Forward Support Unit Commander LtCol. Clawrence Garrido said.

The explosives were brought to a quarry site away from residents to ensure their safety.
