ASF confirmed in Tacloban City

The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Eastern Visayas Office confirmed that the African swine fever (ASF) has entered Tacloban City despite banning the entry of hog, pork, and processed meat.

According to DA-Eastern Visayas Office Executive Director Angel Enriquez, this was validated through the results of confirmatory laboratory tests conducted on samples collected in Barangay San Jose. The results have been submitted to the Office of Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez.

Director Enriquez assured that the DA ASF Task Force and Tacloban Veterinary Office will implement significant strides such as the culling of all hogs within 500 meters of the confirmed case to prevent the further spread of ASF.
