Avigan clinical trial in PH delayed

The Avigan clinical trial has again been delayed and is expected to start on Tuesday. Four hospitals will participate in the trial including Sta. Ana Hospital, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, Quirino Hospital and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).

However, the Department of Health (DOH) has stated that three of the participating medical facilities are still finishing their ethics review of the medicine. The PGH has finished its ethics review but the University of the Philippines-Manila is still going through the Memorandum of Agreement of the trial.

Meanwhile, the DOH has stated that the vaccine expert panel is studying the Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials of the Russian-made Sputnik V as cure for the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (CoVID-19).
