BACOLOD CITY — About PHP1.2 million worth of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) were seized by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit in a buy-bust in Purok Tahong, Barangay 2 here Wednesday night.

A report of the Bacolod City Police Office released Thursday night showed that the target, Edwin Jimena, fled but left behind 20 big sachets of the prohibited substance and an improvised .357 magnum revolver loaded with a single ammunition.

A woman, identified as Cheryl Capadocia, 45, was arrested during the 10:30 p.m. operation. She yielded two sachets of suspected shabu.

The police said Jimena, a newly-identified high-value target, escaped by jumping out of the window after he realized that he was transacting with an undercover policeman, who was buying a sachet worth PHP1,000.

The Wednesday night drug haul was the largest this week as the Bacolod City police sustains its operations against illegal drugs, even in the thick of security preparations for the 39th MassKara Festival slated on October 8-28.

During the Sept. 1- 25 period, the Bacolod City police seized 192.33 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of almost PHP2.885 million. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
