BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) registered an increase of more than 20 percent in its crime solution and clearance rates in 2018, with figures higher than the target set by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 (Western Visayas).
As of Monday, figures showed that last year’s crime clearance efficiency (CCE) increased by 23.06 percent — from 71.96 percent in 2017 to 88.56 in 2018.
Out of the 3,406 crime incidents in 2017, a total of 2,451 crime incidents were cleared. In 2018, there were 2,500 cases cleared out of 2,823 recorded incidents.
The Bacolod City Police’s CCE rate in 2018 was higher than the PRO-6’s target of 68.74 percent.
Crime clearance efficiency is the percentage of cleared cases out of the total number of crime incidents. These are cases with identified suspects and charged, but not arrested.
In terms of crime solution efficiency (CSE), the BCPO posted an increase of 20.81 percent in 2018 compared to the previous year — from 67.44 percent to 81.47 percent.
In 2017, a total of 2,297 out of 3,406 crimes were solved while in 2018, there were 2,308 cases solved out of the 2,823 recorded incidents.
The CSE rate is also higher than the PRO-6’s target of 66.19 percent.
Crime solution efficiency is the percentage of solved cases out of the total number of crime incidents. These are cases with arrested and charged suspects.
Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, acting city police director, said that for the second semester of 2018, the BCPO is expected to receive the award for having the highest crime solution and clearance efficiency rates among the police units in Western Visayas.
Last September, Ebreo led the BCPO personnel in receiving the Philippine National Police Efficiency Medal for its first semester achievement during the ceremony held at the PRO-6 headquarters in Camp Martin Teofilo B. Delgado in Iloilo City.
In 2018, total crime volume in Bacolod decreased by 17.12 percent, or by 583 recorded incidents — from 3,406 in 2017 to only 2,823 in 2018.
Index crimes, or crimes against person and property, dropped by 40.19 percent from 1,132 in 2017 to 677 last year.
