BAI: Number of ASF cases in PH down

The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) confirmed that the number of reported African swine fever (ASF) cases has decreased.

In a joint panel hearing in the House of Representatives, the BAI disclosed that from 360 ASF cases in December, the number has gradually decreased to 62 cases in March. This was attributed to the strengthened surveillance program of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

However, the BAI also confirmed that more areas in the country are affected by the ASF. Hard-hit areas are in CALABARZON and Central Luzon.

The DA assured that it is doing its best to “tame the inflation” in the price of pork. Report from Daniel Manalastas
