Banchero named Player of the Week

MANILA – Chris Banchero displayed brilliance this past week to catapult Alaska to an outright spot in the PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals.

Banchero showed that he is now the Aces’ emerging court general after dishing out 11 assists alongside 10 points and seven rebounds in their win against the Columbian Dyip on Wednesday.

Then on Sunday, he exploded for 28 points in Alaska’s huge victory over Blackwater.

Because of these, the PBA Press Corps named him the Player of the Week, besting Meralco’s Cliff Hodge and Chris Newsome; and San Miguel’s Chris Ross and Chris Standhardinger.

Now at 7-2, the Aces can secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the next round this week as they have the NLEX Road Warriors and the NorthPort Batang Pier as remaining opponents. (Ivan Stewart Saldajeno/PNA)
