Bar Chairperson Leonen eyes online bar exams

The Supreme Court is considering the online conduct of proctored Bar Examinations due to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

2020 to 2021 Bar Chairperson Justice Marvic Leonen stated mixed online and written examinations in more than 2 areas are also being seen as part of reforming the customary Bar Exams. Performing the Bar Exams under a restructured method is the only way to ensure the safety and accessibility of bar applicants amidst the pandemic.

The High Court en Banc has been informed about the said plans. However, there is still no guaranteed proposal while security and logistical issues are being ironed out.

The Bar Chairperson is encouraging all bar applicants to use the remaining time to study and review before Bar Examinations would be carried out on November 2021.
