PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — The opening of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in this city and the province of Palawan has been, “generally peaceful”, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here said Monday.

At 7 a.m., 53 voting centers with 409 clustered polling precincts opened in different schools in Puerto Princesa City, according to Ferdinand Bermejo, city Comelec officer.

“So far, we have not received any report regarding any untoward incident. Generally, the opening was peaceful,” Bermejo said.

In the whole province, which has 519 voting centers with 1,890 clustered voting precincts, provincial Comelec spokesperson Jomel Ordas said the start of the synchronized barangay and youth polls was also “generally peaceful.”

“Based on the reports of our election officers, most precincts opened on time to cater to the voting public. There is no untoward incident happening and we hope this will last the whole day,” he said. (Celeste Anna Formoso/PNA)
