Batangas’ Bahay Pag-asa housemates trained on bread, pastry production

BATANGAS CITY – Some 25 housemates, aged 15 to 18, of the Bahay Pag-asa foster home and shelter for children in conflict with the law (CICL), are currently undertaking Bread and Pastry Production to train them on basic skills and earn a decent livelihood.

Batangas Public Information Office chief Jenelyn A. Aguilera told the Philippine News Agency on Monday that the 18-day skills training project and capacity-building sessions from April 23 to May 10 are being conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Aguilera said the activities of the CICL housemates are under the auspices of the Batangas provincial government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) at the Bahay Pag-asa Conference Room in Barangay Bolbok in this city.

She said the Bahay Pag-asa shelter and foster home for the abused children and child offenders was funded and constructed by the provincial government and managed by the PSWDO, in partnership several licensed or accredited non-government organizations.

Aguilera said that Bahay Pag-asa serves as the temporary home for the CICLs aged 15 to 18 years old while waiting for their cases to be resolved.

She said the training program and skills enhancement program are in line with the thrust of Governor Hermilando Mandanas for young Batangueños and children who need proper care and attention due to lack of parental guidance and support.

She added Mandanas has assured assistance for these youths so they will never again lose track and give them hope to move on and be nurtured into renewed persons. (PNA)
