Batangas province names best local governments

BATANGAS CITY, Batangas – Five local government units (LGUs) in this province were recognized Saturday as the first “Best Local Government Awardees” as an incentive for making strides and accomplishments in their city or towns.

Jenilyn A. Aguilera, Batangas public information office chief, told PNA on Monday that the outstanding LGUs received recognition during the province’s 436th founding anniversary celebration held over the weekend.

“Best Local Chief Executive” was conferred to Lobo Mayor Gaudioso R. Manalo for the 1st to 3rd Class Municipality category, while the same recognition went to Cuenca Mayor Celerino A. Endaya under the 4th to 5th Class Municipality category.

“Best Municipalities in Governance Awardees” were Santo Tomas for the 1st to 3rdClass category and Cuenca for the 4th to 5th Class category.

Batangas City Mayor Beverly Dimacuha was adjudged “Best City Mayor” for the “Best City in Governance” award.

Governor Hermilando Mandanas and Vice Governor Nas Ona led Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislative council) Board Members, local government officials and employees in saluting the outstanding local government awardees.

Mandanas hailed the pioneering achievers as Batangas’ real honor, pride and wealth for their exemplary local governance, leadership, hard work, dedication in serving their constituents with their best local administration and public services.

He said that the local government units’ genuine public service commitments demonstrate their true partnerships and contributions to the province’s economic development including in the field of culture and sports.

Mandanas also conferred the “Batangas Artist Award” for the Culture and Arts Awards category to El Gamma Penumbra from Tanauan City for its world-class performances in the international competition arena.

The Heritage Preservation Advocate Awardee was Armando “Dindo” Montenegro from Taal, while “Sining Kumintang ng Batangas” from Bauan received the “Folk Artist Award.”

The governor also presented awards to San Juan town as champion in Women’s Volleyball ; San Pascual town in the Men’s Volleyball;  and Men’s Basketball to Lipa City. (PNA)
