Bato to support son’s decision on PNPA stint

MANILA — Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald dela Rosa said he would accept the decision of his son Rock on whether to quit or proceed with his training at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

“All plebes there go through that kind of pressure and I am sure that the pressure on him is harder. Let’s just wait and see. He should (stay) as long as he can,” dela Rosa said.

“I am a not the slave driver type of father who would get angry if he quits because of the thought that I will lose face. The mere fact that he was recognized and he was able to finish plebehood, he was able to finish his first year, that’s enough for me (and I can) brag that my son was able to hurdle plebehood,” he added.

“If he wants to quit, I’d leave it up to him. In the first place, the decision to join the Academy was purely his decision and to quit is also purely his own decision. Whatever (it is), we are okay,” dela Rosa said.

He confirmed that Rock, a college graduate before he entered the PNPA, had to go through removal examinations for two subjects at the Academy.

Plebes or the Fourth Class Cadets, are the newest members of the Cadet Corps who are received during the reception rites of the Academy based in Silang, Cavite. (PNA)
