MANILA — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) named the Meralco-Marubeni Consortium as winning bidder for the power distribution contract in New Clark City.

BCDA said Friday that the Meralco-Marubeni Consortium has submitted the lowest tariff bid of PHP0.6188 per kilowatt hour, beating the bid of Aboitiz-KEPCO Consortium at PHP0.9888 per kWh.

The agency set the tariff ceiling for power distribution in New Clark City at PHP1.25 per kWh.

It said it targets to sign the joint venture agreement with the Meralco-Marubeni Consortium by early next year.

New Clark City, envisioned to be a smart and green city, aims to have the first smart power grid in the country.

Last month, BCDA also named Prime Water Infrastructure Corp. as the winning bidder for New Clark City’s water supply services.

Prime Water offers water rates at PHP9.45 per cubic meter.
