Beachgoers find vintage bomb along Naic, Cavite’s shores

NAIC, Cavite — Local tourists who went swimming at the Aroma Beach Resort here found a vintage bomb at the shoreline during the low tide at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to Naic Police chief, Supt. Janet Arinabo, the beachgoers reported their discovery of what appeared to be a metal tube to resort personnel, who then informed officials of Barangay Munting.

The village officials in turn relayed the information to the authorities.

Arinabo said she directed her team to turn over the vintage bomb to the Explosives and Ordnance Device section of the Cavite Police in Cuartel, Imus City for proper disposal.

She said the bomb was 20 inches long and weighed 5 kg., including the seashells attached to it.

Meanwhile, village folks and beachgoers thanked the police for its prompt response and action.

They said it was good that the vintage bomb was immediately reported to the authorities, otherwise scavengers could have found it and sold it to a junk shop, in which case it could have been mishandled and people could have been hurt. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
