BFP bares activities for Fire Prevention Month

MANILA — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has lined up activities for the nation’s observance of the “Fire Prevention Month” this March.

Among them is “Berong Bombero sa Paaralan”, a nationwide education campaign in all elementary schools advocating fire safety awareness among the youth.

The DILG is also launching its “1st Fire Safety Expo”, exhibiting the works of winners in various fire prevention competitions nationwide.

Another is the “One Team: One Color” fun run for all Bureau of Fire Protection regional offices nationwide, as well as all provincial, city, and municipal fire stations. A “Bike for a Cause” will also be conducted.

“Fire Protection Month is the time of the year when we are at our most visible. Let us use this attention, harness it to our full advantage to tap as many Filipinos as we can to channel the fact that fire prevention doesn’t rest solely in our care, on the firefighters’ shoulder, but is everyone’s responsibility,” DILG Officer-in-Charge Eduardo Año said in a statement.

BFP Spokesperson Supt. Joanne Vallejo said every Filipino must be responsible for keeping a fire-safe environment. (PNA)
