BFP-Tuguegarao kicks off Fire Prevention Month

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — The Bureau of Fire Protection kicked off the observance of Fire Prevention Month with a motorcade around the main roads here Thursday.

Sporting their firefighting gears and riding on fire trucks, the firefighters toured the city with barkers on megaphones calling for vigilance against fire.

The event was later highlighted with a ceremonial shower, using water cannons, and the release of blue and yellow balloons.

Fire Senior Insp. Franklin Tabingo, Ilagan City Fire Marshall, said the event seeks to perk up the nationwide call for support on fire prevention.

“We encourage all stakeholders to help us contain fires by being multipliers in information dissemination and prevention drives,” Tabingo added.

Firefighters have earlier embarked on a regular fire safety campaign through information dissemination by distributing printed items, monitoring and evaluating fire-prone areas, and holding a house-to-house campaign, fire and earthquake drills, and seminars.

The month of March has been declared as Fire Prevention Month because it is the hottest month of every year, when fire incidents usually occur. (PNA)
