Big-time price hike for diesel before Christmas

A hefty price increase on diesel products will greet motorists before Christmas.

In separate advisories on Monday, Caltex, Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, PTT, Seaoil, and Shell will hike diesel prices by P1.45 per liter while adjusting gasoline prices by 50 centavos higher.

Caltex, Seaoil, and Shell, likewise, will increase kerosene prices by 75 centavos per liter.

This is the second straight week that oil firms have implemented price increases.

With the price hike last week, retail prices of gasoline range between P50.75 and P74.20 per liter; diesel, from P49 to P70 per liter; and kerosene, from P61.98 to P80.94 per liter.

“Year-to-date, total adjustment of gasoline and diesel stands at a net increase of P12.55 per liter and P9.85 per liter, respectively. On the other hand, kerosene has a total net decrease of P2.55 per liter,” the Department of Energy said.
