BIR files P215.4-M tax raps vs. 9 bizmen

MANILA — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday filed separate criminal complaints before the Department of Justice against nine delinquent individual and corporate taxpayers amounting to PHP 215.4 million.

The BIR accused respondents as Jennifer Dela Cruz Feliciano, Cresencio B. Eugenio and Emmanuel De Los Santos, Gerard L. Rabonza and Hazel R. Rabonza, Robert Go and Mary Rose Belza, Roland P. Vasquez, Crispin U. Ando, Arceliza T. Sequira, and Jessica Pauline Valencia of willful failure to pay taxes under the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.

“The respondents’ obstinate failure and continued refusal to pay their long overdue deficiency taxes, despite repeated demands, constitute willful failure to pay taxes due to the government.” the BIR said in a statement.

The BIR said Feliciano, who is the sole proprietress of Theaden Marketing Services based in Quezon City, has a total tax liability for year 2011 of PHP17,840,376.

Eugenio of C.B. Eugenio Enterprises Co. Inc., which is an independent contractor in Tanay, Rizal has a total tax liability for year 2009 of PHP4,350,570.

De Los Santos of DAEAH Phils. Inc., engaged in the business of overhauling, system modification and commissioning services in the Philippines has a total tax liability for the taxable period from July 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014 amounting to PHP63,950,470, inclusive of increments.

Gerard L. Rabonza and Hazel R. Rabonza as responsible corporate officers of Northstar Transport Facilities (LTD) Inc., based in Pasig City engaged in the business of transport services/port terminal operations and have a total tax liability amounting to PHP43, 883,614.

General manager Go and managing partner Belza, who are engaged in the business of plastic products through Plastic Technobag Co. Ltd in Quezon City have a total tax liability of PHP13,416,698.

Vasquez of RPV Electro Technology Philippines Corporation operates as contractor in trucking and hauling services based in Pasig City and has a total tax liability for year 2011 amounting to PHP18,319,693.

President Ando and Treasurer Sequira of Shema Ultimate Business Innovative Concept, Corporation, likewise a domestic corporation engaged in the business of distribution/ trading in health drinks and health supplement based in Quezon City, have a total tax liability amounting to PHP49, 019,252.

Valencia of Touring Group Inc. which is engaged in the rendering of recreational activities based in Metro Manila, has a total tax liability amounting to PHP4,675,157.

The BIR said that the collection notices have been served to the abovementioned respondents but failed to either pay or protest and submit relevant supporting documents to either substantiate their claims or to refute said assessments, making the said assessments final, executory and demandable. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan with reports from Rachel Bañares/OJT/PNA)
