The Department of Agriculture (DA) has estimated the agricultural damages caused by Typhoon Bising in the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas at around P45.93 million as of Wednesday morning (April 21), based on the DA’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (DA-DRRMOC) initial report.
The report states that 765 farmers were affected and 1,599 hectares of agricultural areas sustained damages. At least 3,000 metric tons of agricultural products were lost.
Among the damaged crops are palay, corn, vegetables, fruits, and livestock.
As of 5:00 a.m. of April 21, Typhoon Bising was moving north-northwestward over the Philippine Sea east of mainland Cagayan Valley, and is forecast to move generally northward or north-northwestward until Wednesday night or the early morning of April 22. – PTV News/AG-jlo
