All personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology will donate a portion of their salary to support the national government’s efforts on COVID 19.

The amount will be deducted from that salary of jail officers next month.

Every organic personnel of the bureau from the Chief, BJMP to the lowest ranking officer, the Jail Officer 1, will donate a portion of their salaries.

1.5% from the base pay of each personnel is expected to generate at least Php7.23Million to support government programs.

The amount to be collected will be turn-over to the Office of the Civil Defense.

“We hope that this amount could somehow reinforce the needed support to help our people, especially the health workers who are in the frontlines,” said BJMP Chief Jail Director Allan Iral.

“This is on top of initiatives of our personnel in the field to help their respective localities,” he added.

Meanwhile, persons deprived of liberty in BJMP jails across the country continue to help in the government’s efforts on COVID 19 by giving free services in the fabrication and sewing of PPEs, face shields, and other protective equipment needed by frontline health workers.

Currently, 14,875 personnel are manning the 468 district, city, and municipal jails across the country.
