BOC holds 2022 Media Fellowship Meeting

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) through the Public Information and Assistance Division, in coordination with the Local Public Information Officers (PIOs), spearheaded the 2022 Media Fellowship Meeting on Jan. 27 at the OCOM Conference Room, BOC Grounds, Port Area, Manila, and via Zoom teleconference.

Atty. Vincent Philip C. Maronilla, spokesperson and assistant commissioner, discussed the 2021 Accomplishment Report of the bureau. The discussion focused on the achievements of the bureau in terms of its mandates of revenue collection, border protection, and trade facilitation.

Atty. Noemi A. Garcia, acting chief of the Planning and Policy Research Division shared the bureau’s accomplishment under the 2021 10-Point Priority Program, and the 10-Point Priority Program for 2022.

The Priority Programs for this year include (1) Implementation of Customs Computerization Program, (2) Enhancement of Learning and Development Program, (3) Full Operationalization and Promotion of Authorized Economic Operator Program, (4) Implementation of Customs E-Commerce Program, (5) Sustainment of Integrity and Quality Management System, (6) Enhancement of Trade Facilitation, (7) Improvement of Revenue Collection through Non-Traditional Sources, (8) Enhancement of Employee Welfare Program, (9) Implementation of Organizational Restructuring, and (10) Enhancement of Performance Management System.

The forum was attended by 35 media outfits nationwide. For BOC’s part, Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, deputy commissioners, district collectors, BOC officials, and local PIOs attended and addressed the questions raised by media practitioners during the open forum.

In his message, Guerrero expressed his gratitude to the media partners for their continued support to the Bureau. He assured that BOC would continue to work closely with the media industry to ensure efficient and effective information dissemination to the public especially at this critical time. (BOC) -ag
