Ten parcels containing a high-grade variant of marijuana, also known as “kush”, were intercepted by Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The shipments, which were consigned to different recipients, were flagged during an inspection by authorities at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City, revealing a total of 5.7 kilograms of kush with an estimated street value of P7.9 million.

These confiscated items have been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for further investigation and case build-up.

Individuals involved shall face charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

The seizure of the illegal contraband is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s mandate of stemming the ebb and flow of illicit trade in and out of the country’s airports and sea terminals.
