Bohol to put up reward vs. mayor’s killers

TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto said on Friday a reward money will be put up to help in the immediate arrest of the suspects behind the gruesome killing of a town mayor.

Chatto told reporters Bohol police chief Senior Supt. Angeles Geñorga will announce the amount of the reward soon.

Chatto said rewards are provided upon the approval of the Provincial Peace and Order Council based on the recommendation of the police.

Last Monday, the police filed murder charges against Elmer Melencion, Emigdio Aparece Jr., and a John Doe in relation to the killing of Buenavista town Mayor Ronald Lowell “Sample” Tirol last Sunday in a cockfighting arena.

Earlier, League of Municipalities-Bohol chapter president Allen Rey Piezas said the group of town mayors is also seeking to raise funds for a reward that can help in the arrest of the suspects. (Dave Albarado/PNA)
