Bounty for arrest of Quezon village chief’s killers hiked to P400K

SARIAYA, Quezon — The Sangguniang Bayan (local legislative council) has raised the bounty to PHP400,000 for the arrest of the killer of former Association of Barangay Chair (ABC) president and village chair Victorio Luna.

In his privilege speech at the council session here, town Councilor Jippers Albis expressed dismay that town officials have not received any update on the slaying of the village chief last April 7, 2017 and urged local legislators to hike the reward money to PHP400,000 for the arrest of the assailant and the speedy resolution of the murder case.

Albis said there has been no official development report on the case and it is more than a year now and the perpetrator had not been arrested yet.

The bounty was initially placed at PHP100,000 by the local government as incentive for informants or witnesses to come out and point at the suspect/s and give justice to the slain village leader and his kin.

A resolution was earlier sponsored by Councilor Teody De la Pena raised the reward money to PHP300,000 until Albis sponsored a new resolution Tuesday to hike the amount to PHP 400,000 for the arrest of the suspect/s.

Vice Mayor Alexander A. Tolentino, as presiding officer of the town legislative council, steered the local lawmakers here for the speedy approval of the council resolution on the bounty. (Gideon Belen/PNA)
