Boxing Yoga coming to PH in 2018

DAVAO CITY — Boxing Yoga, which offers fighters a considered approach to explore coordination, body awareness and correct posture alignment, is coming to the Philippines in 2018.

Heather Boyle, a certified Boxing Yoga coach in Los Angeles, California, will arrive next year together with boxing promoter-manager Rey “Cacoi” Rodis II of RED Boxing International. The final date and gyms to visit are still being worked out with boxing organizations here.

Among Boyle’s new students are Rodis’ boxers Recky “The Terror” Dulay and Rey “Technician” Perez, who are currently also training at the Santa Cruz Gym in LA.

“Boxing Yoga systematically strengthens and stretches the entire body and offers fighters a considered approach to explore coordination, body awareness and correct posture alignment,” said Boyle.

“As a result, Boxing Yoga helps drastically shorten recovery time and cultivates relaxation and muscular tension release,” said Boyle.

“These are important factors in order to prevent injuries and optimize a healthy body and mindset,” added Boyle, who has coached all over the world, including India and Iceland.

Rodis said that his boxers have already been doing Boxing Yoga every Sunday.

“And they even want to do it daily after their training at the boxing gym,” said Rodis, a nephew of former world champion Rene Barrientos and grandson of the late boxing promoter-manager Dr. Antonio Almirante. (PNA)
