Brave cops in Marawi, Misamis Oriental promoted

MANILA — Police officers who participated in the five-month campaign to liberate Marawi City from Maute Group terrorists and those who valiantly stood their ground against a large rebel force in Misamis Oriental were all given meritorious promotion Monday.

The ceremony, which took place in Camp Crame, Quezon City, was headed by Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Radyo Pilipinas said in a report.

Feted for their role in liberating Marawi City were 745 police officers headed by Chief Insp. Marlon Urbanoso Ancheta.

While promoted for valiantly defending their station against an overwhelming force of some 200 NPA rebels were the eight officers of the Binuangan Police Station in Misamis Oriental last December.

These eight policemen were led by Senior Insp. Dante Hallazgo.

Dela Rosa said the dedication of these officers in fighting against the Maute Group terrorists in Marawi City and the rebel forces in Misamis Oriental is above and beyond the call of duty.

He added that the heroism demonstrated by these officers should be emulated by all members of the PNP. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
