MANILA – The clearing and settlement operations of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will continue Tuesday even after regular work has been suspended by the local government due to the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping

In a WhatsApp message to reporters Monday, BSP Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr. said other market support services will also be available from the BSP on Tuesday.

“So financial markets should remain open,” he added.

The City Government of Manila, earlier, said the suspension of both work and classes in the capital city is to ensure public order and safety, as well as to prevent inconvenience to workers and students.
