BSP introduces PCMS

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) introduced Payments and Currency Management Sector (PCMS) that will manage the physical currency and digital money.

“PCMS is tasked to maintain the safety and integrity of the local currency and to ensure a well-functioning payments and cash ecosystem that supports sustained and inclusive economic growth,” BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno elaborated.

The new sector will also handle the production of banknotes, coins, gold refining, and printing of the national ID cards. The PCMS will be led by Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan. Report from Naomi TIburcio
