TACLOBAN CITY — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will open more Knowledge Resource Collections (KRCs) in schools and public libraries in Eastern Visayas to enhance the public’s understanding of economic and financial concepts and issues.
At least six KRCs were launched in the region while three more are scheduled for opening within the year, said Maria Jocelyn Ladero, BSP Tacloban acting deputy director in an interview Wednesday.
The project is in partnership with public libraries, local governments, and college schools.
“We want our students and the public to be empowered to contribute more meaningfully to economic development and benefit better from the opportunities that such development would bring,” Ladero said.
Earlier, the BSP field office here has opened KRCs at the Leyte provincial library in this city, University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban Campus, Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception in Baybay City, Samar provincial library in Catbalogan City, Samar State University in Catbalogan City, and Northwest Samar State University in Calbayog City.
Also launched are centers at the University of Eastern Philippines in Catarman, Northern Samar; Northern Samar Colleges also in Catarman; and Southern Leyte State University in Sogod, Southern Leyte.
Up for opening within the year are KRCs at the Southern Leyte provincial library and St. Joseph College in Maasin City, Southern Leyte; Eastern Samar State University in Borongan City; Maydolong public library in Maydolong, Eastern Samar; Biliran provincial library in Naval, Biliran; and Northern Samar provincial library in Catarman, Northern Samar.
