BuCor on heightened alert amid threats

The Bureau of Corrections has heightened its security alert after several BuCor personnel received threats.

According to BuCor Spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag, the threats came from the relatives of the deceased high profile inmate, Jaybee Sebastian. They are allegedly blaming the institution for his death.

The BuCor has coordinated with the local government unit (LGU) of Muntinlupa and the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) for police augmentation to secure the perimeter and compound of the agency.

Meanwhile, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra has stated, “The BuCor people are accustomed to threats from inside and outside the prison walls due to the nature of their job. They have adapted and they know what precautions to take.” – Report from Kenneth Paciente
