BuCor targets to inoculate half of PDL population in 2 weeks

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) wants to vaccinate at least 50% of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) across prison camps in a span of two weeks.

In a Laging Handa public briefing on Tuesday (Aug. 31), BuCor Deputy Director General Assistant Secretary Gabriel Chaclag said that vaccination for both PDLs and jail officers are ongoing.

“As of now, very active po… in about two weeks ay gusto natin po na lahat ng almost 50% sana ng PDL ay mabigyan na rin ng first dose,” Chaclag said.

According to Chaclag, 97% of PDLs at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong are COVID-19-vaccinated, as well as 80% of the PDLs at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

Currently, the BuCor is in coordination with the Department of Health and the Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19 for sourcing of vaccines.

As of Tuesday (Aug. 31), there are 33 active COVID-19 cases among over 48,000 PDLs nationwide. – Report from PTV News / CF -rir
