CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The provincial government of Bulacan has cited 172 barangays in the province, which excelled in their efforts to maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the year.

During the 2018 Gawad Parangal para sa Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran (KKK) sa Barangay held Thursday at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here, the awardees were given certificates of recognition and PHP20,000 for the 14 first placers; PHP15,000 for the 56 second-placers; and PHP10,000 for the 102 third-placer barangays.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said he was grateful that barangay officials in Bulacan are supportive of the province’s agenda to preserve a clean environment.

“To be able to sustain development requires a clean and orderly environment. As we move towards full change, you’re the first line of defense and we recognize all of your efforts since its launch in 2014,” Alvarado said.

Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, the guest speaker at the event, took the chance to deliver the good news on the establishment of a Malasakit Center at the Bulacan Medical Center, which promotes zero billing hospitalization and ease to the Filipino people.

“Your hospital is so good you and Bulakenyos can be proud. This is a proof that when your officials really use the money correctly, it will actually result. I am really impressed,” Go said.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando acknowledged the efforts of his fellow public servants, along with the volunteers, saying that progress would not be possible without them.

According to the Provincial Administrator’s Office, barangays were rated based on cleanliness, well-maintained drainage and sewage system, effective garbage collection, orderliness, having trees, mangrove and vegetable plantations and having systematic record and data keeping.

After the awarding ceremony, barangay and provincial officials shared a sumptuous meal as an early Christmas celebration.

They also received gift packs from the provincial government.
