Bulacan launches ‘Oplan Counter Strike, eco-police units

CAMP ALEJO S. SANTOS, Bulacan — In support of the programs of the provincial government of Bulacan on the campaign against motorcycle-riding criminals and environmental conservation, the Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) headed by Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna launched “Oplan Counter Strike” and “eco-police” at the open grounds of this camp on Monday morning.

Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando was the guest of honor in the event.

Oplan “Counter Strike” was initiated by the BPPO to curb the rising numbers of incidents perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects, including shooting, robbery, and motor vehicle theft, among others.

“This will employ new and aggressive counter-measures to arrest or to prevent motor-riding suspects, including their network and support system from conducting their nefarious activities,” Bersaluna said.

He noted that the chiefs of police of the various city and municipal police stations, commanders of Provincial Mobile Force Company as well as the Highway Patrol Team (HPT), will designate and deploy motorcycle-riding cops to patrol, conduct “Oplan Sita” and establish police presence in places of convergence and major thoroughfares.

As one of the core values of the Philippine National Police, which is “Pulis Makakalikasan”, the BPPO, in coordination with the Bulacan Environmental and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), launched an environmental conservation program to be implemented by “eco-police”.

“Their mission is to protect and enhance the environment and natural resources of the province while also protecting the health and safety of its people through the enforcement of environmental conservation and related laws,” Bersaluna said. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
