Police in Surigao del Sur arrested two high-value targets and seized more than P1 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation Tuesday in Purok 5, Barangay Ganayon, Lianga town.

Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) Chief Col. Harry Domingo said Wednesday that authorities confiscated approximately 150 grams of shabu, two .45 caliber pistols, three magazines, and 19 rounds of live ammunition during the operation.

The suspects were identified as Archie Boquecosa Alpuerto, 44, a resident of Purok Kalipayan, Barangay Bungtod, Tandag City, and Juvan Suarez Duero, 38, a carpenter with the Provincial Engineering Office in Surigao del Sur and a resident of Purok Palmera, Barangay Mabua, Tandag City.

“The buy-bust is part of the SDSPPO’s intensified campaign against illegal drug activities in the province,” Domingo said in a statement.

Surigao del Sur Governor Alexander Pimentel commended the SDSPPO for its successful operation and reiterated the provincial government’s support for the anti-drug campaign.

The suspects are currently detained at the Lianga Municipal Police Station and will face criminal charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
